Well, it has been a very, very long time since I have updated this blog. We are now well in the swing of 2011, and cannot believe that it is the end of January already.
We have coming up this year a couple of shows ready and booked, including for the first time the Smallholders Show where we will be exhibiting in the Green Horizons area. We are also confirmed for the Royal Welsh Show again.
We have started stocking a local blacksmiths ironmongery, exceptional quality and good value for rmoney, and the ones which have been added to the doors have been a huge sucess. We intend very soon to put a shop on the website and to sell these, as well as other miscellaneous bits and pieces.
We are as well looking to move the workshop and provide a proper showroom where people can come and look around the variety of items we sell. We have not yet found a suitable location, but as soon as we have news we will let you know.
Work is good, there is a waiting list for larger items such as kitchens, but please do not hesitate to contact us if you are looking for anything for your home.
Speak soon,
Annabelle
A very belated Happy New Year to all of you, and boy, what a start to the year it has been!
Firstly, Gwilym and I moved last September to a smallholding just a mile away from the farms where both of us grew up in Llandefalle. The big plan is for the yard to move over from the in-laws, hopefully by Easter. We are also setting up a yurt site to run from the same location.
Dragon Furniture shut up shop during December for Christmas and also for our wedding which took place on 28th December 2009 after what felt like years of planning! Two weeks were spent in Norway, and we were back up and running by the end of January.
The last month has seen us secure a shop front premises in the village farm and stove shop in Trecastle (opposite the antiques centre) which we will hopefully be opening in the next couple of weeks holding some examples of our doors and a small selction of ironmongery available to buy.
We will be having a presence at the National Homebuilding and Renovating Show in NEC, Birmingham on the Welsh Timber Forum stand. We will also be getting to a few more shows and exhibitions this year, details of which will be posted so keep an eye out for us!
We are still very busy with orders, but please get in touch with any queries or quotes and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
Dragon Furniture now has a group on popular social networking site Facebook! Join the group and see photos of members' furniture in their home, news and any information.
After a successful albeit wet Royal Welsh Show, we were not surprised when Brecon Show was cancelled a week later because of the wet conditions of the field. This does mean that our show room is still in a bit of a mess, so please make sure you contact us before coming up to see it, or you may be disappointed! We should still be exhibiting at Monmouth Show later on this month on Thursday August 27th 2009, and again at Kington Show on Saturday 12 September, weather dependent, of course. We will try to remember the camera this time so that we can show you some of the preparations required for setting up a stand at these shows, and the sometimes muddy conditions of taking down at the end!
I will be uploading new pictures soon in our new feature gallery so please make sure that you check back for updates and new designs of furniture, kitchens and doors, especially of our new range which was a huge hit at the Royal Welsh Show.
Can I please stress once again, unfortunately we do not have the capacity to undertake any external joinery, which means we do not make barn/stable or outside front doors.
Take care and hope to hear from you soon,
Annabelle
Just to let all of you know that we will be exhibiting at the Royal Welsh Show next week in Builth Wells (July 20-24 2009). Come and see us in the Forestry section with a brand new kitchen on display, our new style bed, as well as chunky rustic furniture ideal for the living room and the kitchen. We will also be bringing along our new style doors and flooring, which are designed by us and handmade in the workshop.
Look forward to seeing you all there!
Gwilym and Annabelle
Welcome to Lloyd, who joins Dragon Furniture as our first 'work experience' person from the local high school. He has settled in nicely with Gwilym and Roger and will be around for the next 2 weeks. He is getting a taste of what it is like to work in the workshop, visit our suppliers as well as helping out 'on-site' and setting up for our biggest exhibition show of the year.
Good luck Lloyd!
